| Pruning that entire thread to save your one sub-thread post would have been silly. But, here's your stuff for search purposes: TheDevilsZ: where do u stand on a 5 speed upgrade ? LitlElvis: Shift the stocker like Grandma ;-p Seriously, the stock 5 speed is strong enough to handle a fair amount of power, it's just the synchros that don't like being jammed into one another. Every synchronized transmission is like this, so it's not that the Z's transmission is weak, so to speak, it's just not designed for what everyone wants it to do... shift fast at high RPM. The solution is to replace the synchros with a mechanism that is designed to do this... face-plates. I've contacted Liberty gear about doing this and they were interested initially, but then they became unresponsive. They are a small shop and I assume I just hit them around their busy season. As soon as I get a few irons out of my fire, I'm going to ship that trans you guys sent to me to Liberty so they can cut windows in the case to view the internal workings and verify "if" they can face-plate it. There is a trade-off to doing this, primarily a loud mechanical "chink" on every shift when street driving it. I think it sounds cool but If this concerns anyone at all, I suggest finding someone at a dragstrip with a Jericho, G-Force, or Liberty face-plate transmission and ask them to take you for a drive through the pits to simulate street driving.
